HISTORY

Our roots reach back to 2004 when the father of one of OMVIA’s co-founders, Miss A. Mendoza, was injured in a car accident. The accident changed his life, as well as his family’s in many aspects, including quality of life, financial and social. Not only did the impact of physical and psychological injuries contribute to change in all their lives, but it was also a very difficult process and fight with the insurance company. This process took just over 4 years before the case was settled. However, there were ongoing health issues, which required more time to be overcome. At that time OMVIA’s co-founder decided to help other people who had been injured in car accidents and dealing with these similar issues. It began slowly by helping friends and family, while studying in university and working. Throughout the years she learned of all different types of accidents and cases, gaining invaluable insight into the fight against insurance companies. OMVIA was born through these extensive years of experience helping and mentoring car accident victims, including pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. Today OMVIA is becoming an unbiased leader in helping car accident victims throughout Ontario.

About US

With 11 years of experience we are the only organization in Ontario providing honest, professional and unbiased help to car accident victims. We are a fast growing association with a large number of members (former car accident victims) with a simple purpose: to provide our own experience as individuals formerly injured in car accidents to present car accident victims. Our help is absolutely free.

In today’s reality car accident injuries are becoming a business to insurance companies, their doctor’s, treatment providers, and lawyers handling such cases. We realized there was a lack of people and organizations available that can honestly and without interest provide insight and understanding of the process when dealing with insurance companies, doctor exams and lawyers. Visit our How We Help page to learn more.

Ordinary people have one simple perception of insurance companies:  They just take money, they don’t give money away. There is nothing wrong about this perception, as almost any other business has the same policy. However, when we pay for insurance premium, we expect them to pay for our benefits if we’re injured in a car accident. In reality and in a large number of cases, car accident victims are exposed to unfair treatment by insurance companies and in some instances they are exposed to humiliation, too. Insurance companies will often deny benefits and rehabilitation, refuse payments and prolong the period for payment, pushing the victim to deeper suffering thereby causing further emotional, psychological and physical issues. They will also attempt to dismiss the extent of your injuries. They will arrange their own doctor’s to examine you. They call these exams IME (Independent Medical Examinations) but we would rather call these Insurance Medical Examinations. In a majority of cases, these are not really independent examiners, rather they are examinations completed by doctors hired by insurance and for the benefit of insurance companies.

Contact us if you want to learn about the experiences of many of our members and their visits to insurance doctors. This will open your eyes and definitely help and guide you toward success in your case. Our goal is to put you not only 1 but at least 3 steps ahead of insurance companies and their doctors.

On the other side of this process are lawyers. One of our members once said about lawyers, “They are a necessary evil”. However, like in anything else, there are good and bad professionals. Our member’s personal dealings with lawyers will teach you how to choose the right lawyer based on their own actual experience.

Another member once said, “Before I wanted to sign a contract with a lawyer, I felt I needed another lawyer to explain the contract to me”. As these contracts are not written in plain English, rather in very difficult legal terms, the bottom line is how we can trust that lawyer. That’s why our members are dedicated to share their positive and negative experience with various lawyers.

Based on the injuries and status of your case, we are able to connect you with a member (or members) who experienced a similar situation.
